This Tutorial is designed to point out some of the features found in the Hilti Interactive CD and the navigational conventions used. Through the use of screen shots and example pages, the Tutorial demonstrates how to use the CD. Please take the time to view this Tutorial in its entirety, in order to better understand and make full use of the CD.

  I. Welcome
  A. Welcome to the Hilti Interactive-CD. This full-featured presentation will provide much of the information needed to determine which Hilti products to use for a specific application, instructions on how to use the products and the specifications for the products. In order to realize the greatest benefit from this presentation, please review this tutorial document to become acquainted with the features and capabilities of the CD.

II. Navigation and General Functions
  A. The Interactive-CD utilizes Netscape Communicator's Navigator to display the materials. For those familiar with "browser" programs, many of the concepts used for general Internet documents will apply here also.
  B. 1. Links are identified by the cursor arrow transforming into a hand with a pointed finger Pointing Finger. Clicking on the left mouse button will activate this choice. These choices are also identified by a change in the color or appearance of the icon as the cursor moves over the area.
    2. The Forward and Back buttons are used to move from page to page in the absence of a specific button or link.
    3. The Tutorial button will return the program to this file at any time for further assistance.
    4. Any reference to "clicking" denotes depressing the left mouse button one time. "Double-clicking" denotes depressing the left mouse button two times in rapid succession.

III. Hilti Overview
  A. Two video segments are provided to acquaint the viewer with the Hilti company. Clicking on the photo will begin the video.
    1. Video 1 covers the industries and markets Hilti serves and the product lines that are available.
    2. Video 2 covers the organizational structure of Hilti and what services are available from the various departments.

IV. Hilti Systems
  A. Using the themes of Speed, Innovation and Safety, this stand-alone presentation provides greater detail about the Hilti product lines and how they apply to different markets and tasks.

V. Technical Guide
  A. Based on the printed Hilti Technical Guide, this electronic version contains technical information helpful to the designer or specifier of direct fastening, anchoring, screw fastening and construction chemical products. It is substantially revised from previous versions by presenting more technical data in a consistent form.
  B. The initial page is a table of contents. The red numbers at the top of the page are linked to the contents listing for each section. The listings in blue are the individual topics found in the guide and will take the viewer to that actual topic.
  C. Icons and Features
    1. The top of each page contains an Icon Bar. The symbols on this bar will allow the viewer to move to the identified areas at any time. Not all pages will contain all icons.

VI. Submittal Packager
  A. This feature will allow the viewer to collect the many documents needed in order to prepare a proposal for submission. By filling in the form, a viewer can "pick-and-choose" what information is needed and for whom and what project the proposal is being generated.
  Note: In many cases the Technical Data page pauses when the progress bar reaches approximately 48%. Most of the Technical Data pages are very large and graphic-intense and may take some time for the computer to process. Please be patient and do not think your computer has locked up.

  A. When viewed on a computer with Internet access, this section will connect the viewer to the Hilti web site for the latest information on products, services and technical data. The user must have an ISP connection for the website link to connect to the Hilti website.

XI. Search
  A. To find information about a specific topic, the viewer can use the Search facility, which references all the documents that are contained in the Interactive-CD.
    1. Enter the word on which to search.
    2. Click on the Search button.
    3. The results will be displayed with the topic heading and the number of times the target word is found within that topic.
    4. Double-click on the listing to view the topic.
